All parents/carers of children who attend the school become members of the Friends Association. Any local residents, or business people, or other community members, who are interested in the welfare of the children at Wycliffe CE Primary School, may become members. We belong to the National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations, (NCPTA).
The Friends are a hard-working group who work to benefit the school through the organisation and provision of both fund raising and social activities. Last year they held coffee mornings, children’s discos, Christmas and Summer Fairs, and a wide range of other activities. The money raised is used to pay for equipment and activities that will enhance the children’s experience of school. For example, to provide the School with items such as, a digital camcorder, high visibility vests for school trips, and books for the school library.
The purpose of the Friends, however, is not solely to raise money. They aim to provide a social link between staff, parents and children and the local community and to this end regularly organise social events such as family quizzes, barbeques, talent shows, which have always proved very popular.
The Committee is elected at the AGM in November, and they are responsible for organising events and controlling funds. They are always happy to welcome new faces and new ideas – please come and join them to support the progress of the children and the work of the teaching staff!
