We have a duty of care to ensure all of our children are safe. In school we do this by making sure that everyone who comes into the building is suitable for working with children. We also work hard to minimise risk in the grounds and building.
If we have concerns about the safety of any children, we follow the procedures outlined in our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy. Parents are welcome to read this policy. It outlines how we deal with any issues when we think children may not be safe, including how we would act if we felt children were not safe at home.
All concerns are recorded on a secure online system which is then accessed by our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at Wycliffe CE Primary School is Ms S Hughes – Deputy Head Teacher (DSL).
The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (Deputy DSL) at Wycliffe CE Primary School are Miss J Oakes, Miss K Bailey & Mrs C Holland.
Safeguarding Governor: Mrs K Hopton
She will then decide how to deal with a concern. This would usually involve speaking to parents or people from other agencies such as health or social care.
If we feel a child is at risk of harm, we would usually discuss this with parents. We then have a duty of care to report our concerns to Children Social Care’s Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). They can be contacted on 01274 437500 or at Sir Henry Mitchell House, 4 Manchester Road, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD5 0QL.
If you have any questions or concerns about safeguarding, please speak to our Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy Headteacher Ms Hughes or, if she is unavailable, to Miss Oakes, Miss Bailey or Mrs Holland our Deputy DSL’s.
