This week Sir William Petty made the long journey from 1666 to tell us all about the Great Fire of London. He told us lots of interesting facts that only an eye witness like him knows! Not only did we learn more about the history of this disaster, we also studied a huge map of London to help us with our geographical knowledge. We each became a ‘human’ building and worked together to represent the city of London to show how the fire spread so quickly. Also, we acted out the ‘bucket chain’ which was the exact way that people in London tried to put out the fire. Finally, Sir William left us with a very important challenge- to design a new London. When we have finished our designs, he is going to take them back in time with him to the King!
