Spruce teacher: Mrs S Bailey
P.E DAY: Wednesday & Friday
Welcome to Year 5 Spruce!
In Year 5 we will be taking part in fun, interactive lessons that really bring learning to life. One of our exciting focuses this year will be History, where we’ll be exploring the events of the First World War. Using War Horse as our starting point, we’ll be asking: Is this story fact or fiction? This “big question” will inspire our learning across English, History, and other subjects, giving us plenty of opportunities to think critically and creatively.
As the year goes on, we’ll also be diving into a range of stimulating topics in Science, PSHE, RE, Art and DT, ensuring that every subject is engaging and full of discovery.
In Year 5, children will continue to develop their skills through daily reading, regular writing and maths practice, and lots of opportunities to work collaboratively. You can help support your child’s learning at home by:
-
Practising weekly spellings
-
Completing homework hexagons that will be set each half term
-
Learning key facts and methods through “Learn by Hearts”
This support is hugely valuable and makes a real difference in your child’s progress. Please remember to bring reading books and records daily, as they are an important way for us to communicate learning between home and school.
In Spruce class, our aim is to work hard, think big, and enjoy a fun-filled year of learning together!
