In Year 2 we have a whole range of exciting topics planned throughout the year, all aimed to develop confident, independent learners. These topics include ‘Underwater Explorers’ , ‘The Great Fire of London, ‘Escape to Africa’ and many more! Each of our half-termly topics will underpin the learning that is carried out throughout the curriculum in Maths, English, Science and all of our foundation subjects. As well as the learning that will take place in the classroom, we will be going on several exciting trips throughout the year.

Please ask your child daily what they have learnt at school and discuss this further with them at home.  Your interest and enthusiasm will make your child shine!

In Year 2 we encourage children to take ownership of their learning and their everyday school life.  We promote independent thinkers, resilience and we foster a love of learning.  Every child ‘can do’ in Chestnut class!

Please support your child with their learning at home e.g. daily reading, completing homework tasks and learning their weekly spellings. Your encouragement and support is invaluable.

Here’s to a happy and successful school year!

Thank you! 🙂
