Wycliffe CE Primary School Values

Chestnut Class

Teacher: Mrs R Brodrick

In Year 2 we have a whole range of exciting topics planned throughout the year, all aimed to develop confident, independent learners. These topics include The Great Fire of London, The Seaside and The Victorians. Each of our termly topics will have a big question and this will underpin the learning that is carried out throughout the curriculum in Maths, English, Science and all of our foundation subjects.

Please ask your child daily what they have learnt at school and discuss this further with them at home.  Your interest and enthusiasm will make your child shine!

In Year 2, we encourage children to take ownership of their learning and their everyday school life.  We promote independent thinkers, resilience and we foster a love of learning.  Every child ‘can do’ in Chestnut class!

Please support your child with their learning at home e.g. daily reading, completing a creative half termly homework project, learning times tables and weekly spellings. Your encouragement and support is invaluable. Bringing in reading books and reading records to school daily is crucial. This is an important communication tool between home and school and I love hearing about all the fantastic things that you are reading together at home.

Here’s to a happy and successful school year!
